About our FOG Abatement Technical Training

The Western States Alliance offers ongoing FOG abatement trainings that will save your utility time, money, and energy.  Funded by the USDA Rural Utilities Service and the EPA, our  trainings are free, informative, and an excellent way to earn CEUs. The trainings consists of eight hours of no-cost training focused on FOG and emerging contaminants, including PFAS, in the wastewater conveyance and treatment system.

8 hour FOG trainings cover the follow:

  • What Does FOG Cost and Why Do We Care?   

  • Implementing a FOG Program.   

    • Costs

    • Legal authority

    • Stakeholder engagement

    • Grease removal device type, sizing, and connected fixtures

    • FSE Inspections and enforcement

    • Information management

    • FSE outreach and best management practices

  • Contaminants of Emerging Concern – PFAS, Phthalates, and Endocrine Disruptors
